Em 2006, o espanhol, blogueiro e f\u00e3 da fic\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica Germ\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez\u00a0 fez uma campanha online para estabelecer a data como <em>Dia do Orgulho Nerd<\/em>, sendo o precursor a organizar eventos alusivos \u00e0 data.<\/p>\n<p>Outro fator poss\u00edvel que soma a origem do Dia do Orgulho Nerd vem a partir da s\u00e9rie de livros de fic\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica do autor ingl\u00eas Terry Pratchett,\u00a0<em>DiscWorld<\/em>. \u00a0O \u201cGlorioso 25 de Maio\u201d \u00e9 a data em que acontece uma revolu\u00e7\u00e3o importante para a hist\u00f3ria da trama. Ap\u00f3s uma revolu\u00e7\u00e3o, um grupo de pessoas se re\u00fane em um cemit\u00e9rio para homenagear os mortos com buqu\u00eas lilases. O autor, diagnosticado com Alzheimer, em 2007, recebeu como dos f\u00e3s a comemora\u00e7\u00e3o deste dia usando roupas nesse tom, como o \u201cdia glorioso\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Foi um dia para celebrar o empoderamento Nerd, a liberta\u00e7\u00e3o de um r\u00f3tulo, antigamente usado pejorativamente, que hoje \u00e9 visto com respeito e valor.
